In “The Fall of Narcissus,” the story of Narcissus is reimagined through a blend of iconic music re-created by Tim Mitchell (music) and Tyler Jones (drill) of Jeff Chambers Music. Narcissus, known for his overwhelming vanity and obsession with his own reflection, becomes the central figure in a dramatic musical journey. The show opens with “The Gospel Truth” from Disney’s Hercules, establishing a mythical and fateful tone, setting the stage for Narcissus’s rise to fame and adoration. Next, “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson introduces the theme of self-reflection, as Narcissus begins to confront the consequences of his vanity, seeing his flaws but refusing to change. His internal struggle deepens, and he remains trapped by his own image. The finale, set to “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga, symbolizes Narcissus’s destructive love affair with himself, leading to his downfall. His obsession reaches a breaking point, and he metaphorically “falls” into the abyss of his own reflection, consumed by the unhealthy love of his own image.
