Rob Sullens


Biography

Mr. Sullens is Assistant Band Director of Tomball High School acting as the Director of Percussion. He comes to us from Houston, Texas where he was the Assistant Band Director of Westside High School and West Briar Middle School. Mr. Sullens is also currently active with teaching the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps based out of Portland, Oregon and the Imperial Percussion Theater based out of the Greater Houston Area.


Some of his past experiences include holding the chair of President for the Northwest Association for Performing Arts (NWAPA) in Beaverton, Oregon and was the Director of Percussion for the Sunset High School Band program from 2005 - 2008. In 2007 Mr. Sullens had the privilege of opening Union High School in Camas, WA as the Assistant Director at Bands. He also assisted Bill Register with Fort Mill High School percussion program from 2005 - 2007. The Fort Mill Percussion Ensemble was the 2005 Winter Guard International Percussion Scholastic Concert World Class Gold Medalist and a 2006 WGI Scholastic A Class Finalist. Earlier in his career Mr. Sullens was the Director of Percussion for the Tarpon Springs High School Band program from 1995 - 2000. Tarpon Springs has been a consistent Bands of America Grand National Finalist and the AA class champion for the past 14 years. Other experiences also include marching with the Spirit of Atlanta and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps.

Currently Mr. Sullens holds a Music Education degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. While attending the university he was also the Percussion Coordinator of the USC Marching Band. Mr. Sullens is an Innovative Percussion Artist a member of MENC, PAS, and actively composes, adjudicates, and consults for various band programs around the country.
